TITLE: I am a Tree Mosaic
ARTIST: Tricia Jones and pupils of Ysgol Carrog
LOCATION: Carrog School, Carrog, Corwen, Denbighshire.
DESCRIPTION: Mosaic commission engaging the pupils, staff and friends of a very small primary school in a village in Wales to create a lasting memorial to a local poet. The project was part-funded from a legacy left by the poet whose two little girls are pupils at the school. The central panel depicts a Tree of Life with the many creatures who live amongst its branches and roots as described in the poet's work "I am a Tree." Each pupil in the school from the Reception class to the Juniors drew his or her own portrait and mosaiced it onto fibreglass mesh. The pupils were given free reign to interpret their portrait as they so wished, making their own colour and design choices. 6ft. x 6ft. approx. total. Recycled china and porcelain, vitreous glass, mirror tile, ceramic, glass beads cemented onto exterior brick wall. 2007
CONTRIBUTOR: Tricia Jones - , United Kingdom
